How to: Import text file(s) using the Text Import Wizard.
Solution:
Select 'Open...' from the 'File' menu. Select the file to import. Click 'OK' and follow the instructions in the Text Import Wizard.
1) Select the 'File' menu and select 'Open...'. (The Open dialog box appears.)
2) Select 'Text Files' from the 'Files of type' drop-down list.

3) Specify the location of the file:
a) (Optional) Select the drive where the file is located from the 'Look in' drop-down list.
b) Select the folder that contains the file.
c) Click 'Open'.
NOTE: Repeat steps 3)b) and 3)c) until the file to import is displayed.
4) Select the name of the file.

5) Click 'Open'. (The Text Import Wizard Step 1 of 3 dialog box appears.)
NOTE: The Text Import Wizard opens only when a file conversion is required. If the selected file has a .CSV extension (which is the comma separated variable format), the file opens and text contained in the file is distributed across columns automatically. The Text Import Wizard is bypassed in this case.
6) Select the appropriate radio button in the 'Original Data Type' group.
7) Type the row to start the import in the 'Start Import at Row' box.

8) Click 'Next'. (The Text Import Wizard Step 2 of 3 dialog box appears.)
9) Depending on the selected original data type, do one of the following:
a) If 'Fixed Width' is selected:
1] (Optional) Set the desired column widths.
2] Click 'Next'. (The Text Import Wizard Step 3 of 3 dialog box appears.)
b) If 'Delimited' is selected:
1] Select the type of delimiter in the 'Delimiters' box.

2] (Optional) Select the 'Treat consecutive delimiters as one' check box.
3] (Optional) Select the appropriate text qualifier from the 'Text Qualifier' drop-down list.
4] Click 'Next'. (The Text Import Wizard Step 3 of 3 dialog box appears.)
10) (Optional) Select a column if there are multiple columns in the 'Data Preview' group. (The column is highlighted.)
11) Select the data format for each column in the 'Column Data Format' group.

12) Click 'Finish'.
